Let's Take a Hike - POGUE CREEK CANYON

In Summer of 24 a major storm rolled through northern Tennessee and downed a lot of trees in the Poque Creek State Natural Area resulting in the closure of many of the trails. Thanks to the hard work of state parks staff and volunteers, the trails at Pogue Creek are cleared and open again to hiking. So let's get together to take in the sites along the Pogue Creek Overlook and Upper Canyon Trails and appreciate the fall color.

While labeled as a hike we we treat this as a Saunter and have a moderate pace so we can take time to appreciate the scenery. Along the 7 miles we will be able to enjoy overlooks, visit some arches, and stroll along cool rock formations. Overall elevation gain is @ 1,400', which is spread out over the trail. We will find a good location to stop for lunch so please bring your favorite trail food and drink. Dogs and other 4-legged adventurers are welcome but be aware that there is a point on the trail where we will be descending/ascending a ladder that is 8'-10' tall (see pictures).

This event will be done with the Mid South Hiking and Adventures Meetup. If you are a member of both meetup groups you only have to RSVP once. We will meet at the Pogue Creek Trailhead at 10:00 AM Central. Note, the trailhead is in Eastern time zone, but all times noted are Central Time.
