Late night tennis @ Joslin Park (Pls read end of event description)
Hosted by ๐พ Tennis @ Austin High
Details
*I might arrive a few min. late from Crockett, pls start without me! Thanks!*
Come join us at Joslin Park for a day of tennis fun! :) The weather is predicted to be 85 degrees. Please bring new or lightly-used balls once every other meetup. Thank you!
**Provide your ETA in the comments IF you will arrive more than 10 minutes after the start time. I need to know if you will be late *before* I arrive at the court, so I can adjust the start time if needed. Please post late ETA as early as possible, at least 20-30 min. before the start time, thank you!
Install the Meetup app so you can receive notification and easily update your RSVP.
Please check the meetup page one hour before the start time in case of cancellation due to changes in weather.
Please:
- Install the Meetup app so you can receive notification and easily update your RSVP.
- No-shows will be taken off the meetup group, sorry!
- No need to ask if it is okay to play if you are arriving late, just post ETA in comments. If you want to drop in last-minute without rsvp'ing (or you are still waitlisted), that is okay but there is no guarantee of court space (esp. for Joslin). Just come an hour later (around 8 pm), so others have a chance to play and we should have more than one court by that time. Be ready to wait for the 2nd court to open.
- Always RSVP if you know ahead of time you can play, it encourages a good turnout and there will be no meetup if people don't rsvp. The late ETA is important even if lots of players are coming, so the next event w/ only 1-2 rsvps, I will know you are arriving on time.
- Info for racket restringing: Ben Schwartz (336) 209-6459, $15 if you bring own string, located in Southwest Austin.
Hoanh Le: (512) 909-1839, $18 if you bring own string, located in North Austin. - Every player is responsible for watching where the ball/shot goes, especially if the ball rolls onto an adjacent court where a match is being played. Please let the other player know if the ball is near their feet, rolls near the baseline, or is behind them on any part of the court where they might step. If a match is being played on that court, it's more important to interrupt their point to avoid the risk of somebody running on to the stray ball and rolling/breaking an ankle or hitting their head- don't assume that other players on the court will notice or they prefer not to be interrupted during a point.
Please wear something with pockets so you don't have to put balls near your feet or on the ground. And always warn other players if there is any chance of them running onto a stray ball. We are going to start playing with 1 can of balls on each court if players continue to let the balls fly onto other courts w/o a second thought.
There have been injuries in this group due to stray balls (all avoidable), so players who disregard player safety will be taken off, sorry!
