Detailed agenda:

Talk #1: Overview of Tensorflow.

  • What is TensorFlow?
  • Some Concepts – Tensor
  • Some Concepts – Data Flow Graph
-A Data Flow Graph to calculate he Roots of a Quadratic Equation
  • Some uses for TensorFlow
  • Features of TensorFlow
  • Using Tensors for Modeling – An Example

Speaker: Ramani Natarajan, Modern Data Architecture and Data Scientist at Slalom

Ramani Natarajan is a member of the Slalom's "Advanced Analytics" and "Modern Data Architecture" centers of excellence. His MS is in Computer Science from The University of Chicago, after getting his BA in Physics and English, from Illinois Wesleyan University. Ramani entered the world of tensors when he embarked on a sequence of research courses in elementary particles, general relativity, and gravitation. His love and passion, other than theoretical physics is theoretical computer science, especially Computation

Talk #2: Introduction to skflow

Yuan will give an introduction to skflow - a simplified interface to TensorFlow for deep learning to get people started on predictive analysis and data mining. He will also talk about how to get most out of this for your research and exploration in deep learning.

Speaker: Yuan Tang, Data Scientist @ Uptake

Yuan Tang is a data scientist at Uptake in Chicago. He's been an active member of the open source community - author of skflow, lfda, metric-learn, ggfortify and contributor of xgboost, mxnet-scala, caret, etc.

Talk #3: Open AI’s Potential in Urban Sustainable Prosperity

Will governments or rogue actors use AI to monitor and control their citizens? Will machines rise up and rule of cities? OpenAI is no longer the stuff of science fiction. In fact, we are now defining the science behind what is and how we’ll use artificial intelligence in our societies. OpenAI platforms are becoming fingertip-accessible, offering both commercial and “garage” developers a chance the build and deploy AI. Far more pressing than angry robots or Orwellian societies, AI designers and developers must now begin to consider the potential impact of AI Human side as AI starts to weave itself into our everyday world.

This discussion draws on a hybrid model combining technology and urban planning to consider the potential near term effects of AI on Urban Sustainable Prosperity as well as unintentionally adverse urban deployments and the impact on for individuals, communities, and cities.

Speaker: Steven Philpott, CEO @ XtraMedium Communications Group

Since 2002, Steve has worked to promote new media for community development by working with brands to create public/private development platforms that provide mutual benefit to both brands and distressed communities. Steve has transformed his experience as a successful vice president, product marketing manager and software architect for major enterprise software companies into several civic projects through his own consulting practice, XtraMedium Communications Group.
