TensorFlow Chicago Workshop - Building an Object Detection System in Keras

Details
The TensorFlow Chicago meetup is organizing a one day workshop to build an object detection system in Keras and TensorFlow. The application demonstrates the complete life cycle of building deep learning applications, including a review of the original paper, deep dive into model development in Keras, model training and improvement, and integration of trained models into a working application.
This is a great opportunity to go beyond traditional introductory materials in deep learning and learn how real-life applications are developed in Keras and TensorFlow!
There is a $30 fee associated with this event to cover lunch, snacks, and GPU usage fees. There are a limited number of spots available for this workshop and registration is on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Note that RSVPs on Meetup are NOT accepted as a form of registration.
Lunch and snacks are provided during the workshop.
The workshop is led by members of the Chicago TensorFlow community:
- Mike Bernico - lead data scientist at State Farm
- Rajiv Shah - data scientist at DataRobot
- Garrett Smith - founder and lead developer of Guild AI
Mike Bernico is a Lead Data Scientist at State Farm Mutual Insurance Companies. He also works as an adjunct for the University of Illinois at Springfield, where he teaches Essentials of Data Science, and Advanced Neural Networks and Deep Learning. Mike earned his MSCS from the University of Illinois at Springfield. He's an advocate for open source software and the good it can bring to the world. As a lifelong learner with umpteen hobbies, Mike also enjoys cycling, travel photography, and wine making.
Mike is the author of Deep Learning Quick Reference: Useful hacks for training and optimizing deep neural networks with TensorFlow and Keras, which is available on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1788837991).
Rajiv Shah is a data scientist with DataRobot and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He has previously worked as a data scientist for State Farm and Caterpillar. He is an active member of the data science community in Chicago and helps organize the Tensorflow Deep Learning meet up. He has a PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. You can find him on twitter at rajcs4 or his home page http://www.rajivshah.com.
Garrett Smith is founder and lead developer of Guild AI (https://guild.ai), an open source toolkit to streamline TensorFlow and Keras model development. Garrett is veteran of software and systems development, having built tools and managed operations for CloudBees platform-as-a-service. In recent years he has focused on deep learning applications, applying best practices in systems engineering to neural network development and deployment.
