Dear You (Teochew)
Details
Dear You (Gěi ā mó de qíngshū, translated as Love Letters to Grandma) is a new drama film written and spoken primarily in TEOCHEW! It premiered on April 17, 2026 and released in the United States on September 4, 2026.
This is a last-minute get together, but upon doing some research, it is only showing in 2 theaters - AMC Westminster and AMC Highlands Ranch. This is the only showing of this film for the month of September. Limited number of seats left, but there are still pairings of seats and we can meet before the movie for introductions!
The film follows a young boy, Hiou-ui, who is burdened with immense debt and a hope to reconnect with his grandfather that allegedly has become a wealthy man in Thailand. In an attempt to find his grandfather through the qiaopi letter his grandmother has, he learns about the love, sacrifice, and history of his family and the diaspora of the Teochew people.
"Through this sojourn into the past in Dear You, the community comes to life within the confines of this hostel, paving the way for a heartfelt love letter to the Teochew diaspora."
