teqHub Copenhagen talks - Concurrency in Linux & Parallel Replication in MariaDB

Details
We are excited to invite you to our third TeqHub Copenhagen event! Thank you to WizKids for letting us use their space.
17.15-17:30 Arrival
17.30 Welcome and introduction to the group
17.45 Talk no. 1: An introduction to Concurrency in Linux, by Jens Schønberg
This short presentation cannot cover all that is Linux concurrency, but it will go into an introduction for the system level, the kernel and application level.
It will go over some of the key areas and concepts, dig into some Linux kernel code and describe some of the key source files for parallel procedures.
18.30 Break and light refreshments
19.15 Talk no. 2: The implementation of Parallel Replication in MariaDB, by Kristian Nielsen
Kristian will present some technical details of the implementation of parallel replication in MariaDB.
MariaDB is a more community-centered fork of the widely used MySQL database, and replication is a hugely important feature used for HA and scalability. Utilizing concurrency effectively in replication is essential to utilize modern hardware, but also very challenging due to the richness and complexity of SQL.
Kristian will explain the architecture used to solve the problem and show some of the code that implements it in MariaDB.
About the speaker:
Kristian Nielsen is a MySQL/MariaDB developer since 2005. He designed and implemented MariaDB replication features such as Group Commit, Global Transaction ID, and Parallel Replication.
20.00-ish Q&A, summing up and networking - and maybe a surprise
21.00 Lights out:)
This is a free event, but we have a limited number of seats - so please only sign up if you plan on coming.
