Mainfest 80s rock concert, dinner & fireworks

We continue our series of visits to festivals with the very traditional Mainfest (not to be confused with the Museumsuferfest 4 weeks later)

This festival has a funfair, food stalls and live music.

Meeting point: Römer square, near the big stage. Tonight we‘ll listen to the band „Astrein“ which in spite of their German name will play international hits, mainly from the 80s. While listening to the concert we’ll have a chat in the beer garden in front of the stage (exact location tbc on the event page when we arrive). You can also dance in front of the stage. Public toilets are at nearby Paulsplatz.

We‘ll try to keep some tables where we gather as a base throughout the evening. You can walk around the festival to grab drinks/food any time and find us at the meeting point. Please note that while this is open space, the tables are serviced by the restaurants of Römerberg, i.e. don’t bring a bagpack full of own drinks, we‘ll be expected to order from them while seated. Please bring cash!

During a concert break there will be the option to stroll around the festival. Since it will be crowded, some of us will stay at Römerberg.

Around 9:35-40pm we move together to the riverfront to position ourselves for watching the fireworks, which will probably start at 10pm (to be confirmed) and will last around 20 mins (exact location tbc). After the fireworks the concert continues at Römerberg, anybody who wants can gather and have another drink there.
