Why not take a break from your downtown weekend shopping by attending a not-everyday art event.

For sure you have been to the top-notch Städel-Museum, right by the river. Much less known is the fact that this museum also hosts an academy for artists, back to back to the museum, you have to walk past the museum on the left-hand side to reach it. They open their doors this weekend so you can see the works of the students right where they are created, and also talk to the artists. There’s paintings, sculptures, installations, movies, performances etc.

Entrance is free, but we can support the academy by eating/drinking there and there can be voluntary donations made. As on many occasions, no cards accepted so you need to bring a little cash.

We‘ll meet in the Lichthof 1st floor, which is the open space you reach walking past a few rooms to the left from the main entrance and up the stairs, at 1:45pm. We wait a few mins to gather and then start a little round tour of the exhibition. For those who can only join later we will have one more meeting at the same place around 2:30pm, after a first round of visiting.

A final meeting point would be around 3-3:15pm when we start gathering in the student Mensa on the ground floor to have a meal or just coffee & cake together. Optionally, there could be a group also visiting the Daimlerstrasse campus or Porticus with further exhibitions of the same academy afterwards.

We will update on exact time/place in the event page.
