Talk 1: Drummer, to QA, to Automation Engineer in ten easy years!
About the speaker: Justin O'Mahony has been a Senior Automation Engineer at Workday for over 6 years now. In previous lives he has also been a drummer, projectionist, pizza chef, translator.....the list goes on... until he found his true calling in Automation!
Talk details: This talk will cover Justin’s journey from being a drummer in a rock band, to getting his first 'proper' job as a QA Engineer, and ultimately how he transitioned into Automation from there. We'll touch on the various reasons why drummers make great QA Engineers. And why QA Engineers make great Automators.
Talk 2: Understanding social biases hiding in your LLMs
About the speaker: Ojasvi Gupta, Founder of EquiAI Labs and AI Safety Dublin Ojasvi has worked in the AI Strategy space for over 7 years with consulting enterprise firms like Accenture Strategy, bootstrapped startups and government think tanks like Mindfire Foundation(Lab42), where her work encompasses AI Governance, User Behaviour and System Design Thinking. She's been chosen for the founding cohort of Plaksha University's Tech Leaders Fellowship in 2019, and has also been a Forbes Ignite 2021 fellow where she worked on AI for Mental Health Diagnostics tool, she is a YLAC 2023 fellow working with a Member of the Indian Parliament (Dr Shashi Tharoor) in the DPI Ecosystem for international cooperation strategies. She's completed her master's in Human Centered Artificial Intelligence from Technological University Dublin and loves cats.
Talk details: Large Language Model applications like ChatGPT have been automating repetitive tasks that are time-consuming, such as content generation, data analysis, and understanding and rephrasing texts. Most of these models have been trained on publicly available data sources like Wikipedia, Reddit and content obtained from web-scraping. These types of contents are often biased and contains problematic inferences and opinions that models have also incorporated as part of being trained on this data. To understand the nature of these biases and their effect in model decisions, we discuss testing approaches and results for instruction-tuned popular models and in-production models and we discuss how the difference in knowledge parity may affect user experience and propagate hidden and in-grained bias in secondary or tertiary applications of these models.
