Hold The Gherkin/ Visual Testing on Mobile With Vizzy/ Intro to Mobile Testing

Hello and welcome to another year of TestHeads events. After a brilliant 2019 where we had some fabulous speakers and topics - we are kicking off 2020 with a bang and are delighted for the first time to have 3 topics in one night.

1. Hold the Gherkin - a team’s journey to high performance with Behaviour Driven Development

This presentation focuses on one on team’s journey to high performance going back to basics with Behaviour Driven Development It outlines the many practices and improvements they implemented to achieve high performance focusing mainly on the introduction Behaviour Driven Development. While many teams embrace behavioural driven development they focus purely on the output, hung up on given, when, then and automation while forgetting about the key focus of BDD which is the behaviours of real life customers.

‘Hold the Gherkin’ is an insight into teams journey to high performance with Behavioural Driven Development how they stopped focusing on the output and then focused on the outcome. This presentation is based on real-life experience and how the teams change in behaviour led to happier customers and improved team spirit.

Sarah Graham is an Agile Coach in Workday with over 19 years of experience in software delivery in telecoms, financial and utilities industries. Although starting life as a software engineer, with some time spent as a business analyst her main area of expertise has been quality. After a number of years as a scrum master, she now focuses her time coaching teams to high performance focusing on a number of collaboration techniques ensuring high-quality software is being delivered. She will share her highs and lows of introducing Behavioral Driven Development to minimize defects and keep customers happy while boosting team morale. Sarah is passionate about creating fun safe work environments for teams to innovate and enjoy.

2. Visual Testing on Mobile with Vizzy

In this talk Raul will show how to configure and use Vizzy for visual testing (a.k.a. screenshot test) your mobile app.

You have your UI tests, and they verify that a button with the right text is on screen... but how do you check that the style is consistent, or that the padding hasn’t changed, or anything about the actual visual representation of the UI.
You can do it manually, but you can also automate it with Vizzy.

Raul Portales is a Software Engineer with a strong focus on product and quality. He switched from Symbian to Android in early 2009 (before Android versions had tasty names) and never looked back. He loves public speaking, and has presented at several DroidCons and Game Developer Conferences. After working a lot on front end – especially building games – Raul has developed a special interest in UX and UI. His current favourite topic is Playful Design. Raul was actively involved in Appsterdam and the DutchAUG. Since moving back to Dublin, he now collaborates with the Dublin GDG.

3. Intro to Mobile Testing at Workday

This talk is concentrated on Mobile testing where we are mainly focusing on the areas:-
• Cross-platform tests (iOS and Android)
• Mobile QA Strategy
• Mobile Release process
• Mobile Accessibility

Throughout her career, Charul Singh has spent time on testing Web apps and has started her Mobile testing journey with Workday as a Cross – Platform Mobile QA. She has a passion for learning and enjoys sharing her findings and she says she is constantly learning in the Mobile testing domain and it is a lot more to it than meets the eyes.
