Let's Talk Test: ChatGPT Powered Learning & Improving 'flaky' tests

Details
What better way to beat the January blues than to join us for an evening of Test Talks and Pizza π
For our first meetup of 2024 we will be hosted by the awesome folk over at BJSS Cardiff. We have two talks, one around using ChatGPT for upskilling to help keep you on top of new tech (perfect to help with all those New Years Resolutions!) and the 2nd is all about the Secret to Stable Selenium and flaky tests.
This meetup is open to everyone and anyone with an interest in Software Testing and building quality software. We always aim to make our meetups as friendly and welcoming as possible, whether you're a first-timer coming along on your own, or a seasoned attendee, π₯°
Here's how the evening tends to run
- 5:30 pm: Doors open β feel free to turn up from then. We will have pizza and drinks, all free, courtesy of our hosts at BJSS. Grab a slice, mingle with our friendly crowd, and make some new connections.
- Some time between 6 and and 6:15 pm: It's showtime! We'll kick off with our first talk , with a break before the 2nd for more pizza and refreshments.
Here are our two talks for the evening
Talk 1: Dan Phillips, Unlocking Personalized Learning: A Practical Guide to Harnessing ChatGPT for Effective Study Plans in Testing
There has been lots of focus and discussion around the impact of developments in AI, Machine learning and LLMs (large language models) recently, including some excellent Test Talks Wales sessions!
This talk is a bit different in that it's a practical demonstration of how to get an effective, personalised study plan from the ChatGPT LLM- using Selenium as an example but applicable to any test tool/technology stack or topic.
This should be relevant to anyone who needs to keep on top of the constant changes in our industry, and will introduce an approach to take advantage of the advances in LLMs to support your ongoing professional development.
Talk 2: Joseph Ward, The Secret to Stable Selenium UI Tests! (No, really...)
Come along for a talk where we'll dive into the world of non-deterministic, or 'flaky', tests - a notorious challenge for testers. Often, traditional tools like Selenium are labelled as primary contributors to this issue, but is this really the case?
We'll delve into the mysteries of test flake, examining Selenium's role and how we can adopt or adapt the impressive features of Cypress and Playwright to enhance the reliability of your tests.
This session is perfect for anyone eager to learn new tips and tricks for Selenium, understand its strengths and weaknesses, and gain insights into the coveted features of Cypress and Playwright that testers absolutely love. Don't miss this chance to elevate your testing game!

We look forward to seeing you there π
