We are back for an evening of Test Talks and are being hosted by the awesome folk over at Roku.

We have 2 talks lined up for you, and, of course, lots of free drinks and pizza courtesy of the Roku team šŸ•

If you haven't been before, don't worry, our meetups are open to anyone with an interest in Software Testing, whether you are just getting started, a seasoned QA or a dev who wants to improve your testing game. Many people come along on their own and we make sure the evening is as friendly and welcoming as possible šŸ’š

Here’s how the evening tends to run,

You're welcome to join us from 6 PM onwards! We’ll have a variety of pizzas and drinks for you to enjoy. Feel free to grab a slice, chat with our friendly group, and meet some new faces. If you'd like an introduction, just find our organiser, Sam, or jump right in and say hello!

Around 6:30 we will then move on to our 2 talks with a break for more pizza in between and our Amazon Voucher giveaway courtesy of the folks at SR2 (Socially Responsible Recruitment)

Talk 1: Tips for applying context driven testing to product delivery by Stuart Crocker (Head of Engineering at Legl)

You join a company as the 1st ā€˜tester’. The company appears to be doing ok, which might be a bit confusing. What would you do? Get hiring some testers?

That’s not what I did.

In not doing so, I ended up running a continual experiment to determine what was ā€˜good enough’ for the company.

By applying my testing skills to the 'product' of delivering great software in teams of Engineers, Product & Design, I was able to identify useful problems to solve.

I’ll share how I
- Made decisions on what I wanted to focus on using my definition of quality
- Adapted some well known practices to make them simpler and/or more effective for us
- Used a game to teach ensemble exploratory testing basics to non testers
— and used that format to make it easy to include non team members
- And how these foundations have organically opened the doors to even more good product development practice

Talk 2: Faster Development and Testing with Til by Richard Lewis (SDET at Roku)

In this talk, Richard will provide an overview of Tilt, a powerful tool designed to simplify and streamline the development and testing of microservices. Tilt helps developers manage the complexities of local development by enabling rapid iteration, seamless integration of Kubernetes resources, and automated testing workflows. By deploying applications in real-time and providing immediate feedback, Tilt accelerates the testing process, allowing for quicker identification and resolution of issues. The presentation will include a live demo, showcasing key features that enhance both development speed and testing efficiency.

We look forward to seeing you there 😁
