Texpats BBQ Brunch at the new Kirbee's in Greenpoint

Two of the best pitmasters in Texas are opening a barbecue joint in Greenpoint, and we're getting in the door early.
The owners of Goldee's in Fort Worth (ranked No. 1 on Texas Monthly's barbecue list) and Barbs B Q in Lockhart (a James Beard finalist) have decided that New York City is the next great food frontier.
They're calling the place Kirbee's, named after the hungry pink video game character. 👻
The experience works like real Texas barbecue:
- line up
- order at the window
- pick up your plate
- go find a table
We can expect flavors of South Texas (lime-zested ribs, Mexican-spiced brisket, charro beans, and green spaghetti IYKYK) and traditional classics (brisket, ribs, turkey, potato salad, coleslaw).
This is the barbecue we miss from back home, made in Brooklyn by people who know what they're doing.
We'll arrive around 1pm and get started on our first plate. Rumor has it there's a brewery not too far away where we can grab a cold drink after the BBQ feast. 🍻
