Y'all, the Upper West Side has a new "psychedelic desert saloon," and we're going. 🤠

Velvet Cowboy took over the original Jacob's Pickles space on Amsterdam Avenue, with 1970s design and a heavy dose of the American Southwest.

Every food item is $5: smash burgers, chili-cheese fries, a hanging funnel cake called the lasso cake, and a McRib riff they named the VcRib.

For us, that includes Texas chili and Frito pie. Expect strong opinions about the beans.

The cocktails are the other half of the plan. They run from the Tequila Mockingbird (tequila, pineapple, lime) to a Heartland Margarita with corn and bourbon hot honey.

Cheap bar food, a cocktail list with a pun for a name, and the kind of decor that would make any Texas grandmother proud.

Saddle up. See you there.
