About us

On the news, we often hear about how the 2026 US National Defense Strategy is shifting the US security focus or about the latest climate change or doomsday clock report stating the perils to the world. Furthermore, many historic documents established the frameworks and conventions that shape global dynamics today. In some instances, the text might be a report by an NGO or even an influential and seminal position paper.

This monthly meeting reads and discusses important texts that move the world. The group would study and present on these documents to try to analyze the texts, rather than rely on interpretation from the news. The goal isn't, necessary, to become experts—though we highly encourage and will support those that want to. Rather, it is to find reasons and vehicles with which to engage with global affairs.

The group will be run by Dae-Han Song and Steven Lee. Dae-Han Song has researched and written about geopolitics and the politico-economy of South Korea, the US, and the world. Often his writing process has involved actually reading these documents. Steven Lee is a translator and interpreter for Palestine solidarity and has also written about Korean and global affairs.

While there will be a list of possible documents to explore together, in each meeting, members would be able to propose their own documents to read, explore, and understand. The meeting will be carried out in Korean and English.
