The initial idea of this group was to experience different Liberating Structures in different cities of northern Portugal, and we can say we are indeed succeeding... First Braga, then Porto, Aveiro... And now it was supposed to be Viseu, but we'd better save it for later ;)
For now, let's adapt to our current context.

In 1987, Michael Stipe sang in full lungs that it was “the end of the world as we knew it”. Fast forward to 2020 and humanity is experiencing one of the most profound transformative experiences ever. The pandemic that hit the world was just the last drop in a “glass” that was asking for change for years now.

So, what’s next? What will the “new normal” be? At the Liberating Structures North Community we like to think that whatever the future holds, it will be built by us and we want to help provide a space and the tools for that to happen.

On the 2nd of July 2020 join us for the community’s 5th Liberating Structures Meet Up, where you will able to safely experiment these open source and easy-to-learn microstructures that enhance teams and leadership development through meaningful conversations and unleashing your creativity. Additionally, you get to connect with very curious people that will support you in making sense of what’s happening around you and with you!

The theme of the session will be: “In the highly volatile world we live in, how can we move from the passenger’s seat to the driver’s seat?” – that’s right, we will all need to hold the reigns of what is happening to us in our personal and professional lives.

Through experimenting a string of Liberating Structures, the participants will visit and explore the motives and reasons that keep them in a more observative role instead of a more active one. And, there’s a bonus for whomever attends this session – in the end you can just copy & paste this same workshop with your team, whether you lead it or are just a part of it. Whether you want to do it remotely or face to face, it’s ready to use! (the session materials will be made available to those who attend the workshop).

Who should attend:
EVERYONE who is curious, particularly about Liberating Structures – that includes those who have practiced it before and those who haven’t – and all who truly feel that, in a business environment, more organic and informal ways of working, talking and exploring, is paramount to deal with this Liquid World. You don´t need any previous experience to participate. Sceptics are very welcome too!

What you need:
We use Zoom, so please download it (and test audio and camera features) before the meeting. Remember that the mobile app has less features than the desktop one (even chatting can prove difficult!) and make sure you have a stable internet connection so that you can have the best possible experience.

Language:
The session will be run in English, so that we can have more people with us. The more the merrier.

(if there aren't foreign language speakers amongst the attendees then, we will deliver it in Portuguese - of course!)
