About us
Friendly Multi-Activity Social Club
We are a friendly multi-activity club that organises a range of social, cultural, leisure and sporting activities. Most of our members are graduates, professionals and like minded people living the Reading, Berkshire, and surrounding areas.
Wide Range of Activities
As well as pub evenings & meals out, there are BBQs & parties, theatre & cinema trips, skittles & ten pin bowling, walks & cycle rides. We have also organised music evenings & play readings, museum & country house visits, glow worm hunts, a balloon flight, and visit to Go Ape (a high wire adventure course).
Run by our Members
We are run by our members for our members, who are encouraged to take part in organising events. If you join you can organise the type of events that you would like to take part in, either something you enjoy already or perhaps something new that you would like to try for the first time.
Part of a Nationwide Association of IVCs
Thames Valley IVC is part of the Association of Inter-Varsity Clubs (aIVC), a nationwide association of over 30 similar clubs with around 4000 members across the UK. If you join our club you can go away on national events organised by other IVCs, such as holidays abroad, weekends away, or just day events. We also organise joint events with some of our neighbouring IVCs and share events with each other.
Welcoming New Members
Anyone over 18 who would like to meet new people and make new friends in a relaxed social club atmosphere is welcome to join. If you are wondering if you would fit in then the easiest way to find out is to join up and come along to an event to see what the club is like.
Joining the club
Thames Valley IVC is a well established social club, and we created this Meetup group to make it easier for people to find us and join the club. At most events we ask non-members to make a small contribution to the running of the club (e.g. £2). However after they been to a few events, and got to know us, people can apply to become full members of the club and pay an annual fee of £12 instead of paying for individual events.

Walk in the Chilterns + Tea & cake
The Stag & Huntsman Inn, Hambleden Village, Henley-on-Thames RG9 6RP, GBJoin us for an afternoon walk in the Chilterns. It is about 5½ miles long, takes in parts of the Chiltern Way and Shakespeare's Way, and includes an attractive wooded valley to the East of Hambleden, and some panoramic views. Valleys have sides, so it is hilly in parts.
Set in the heart of the southern Chilterns Hambleden is a picturesque village that has been the location for several films and TV series. Tea and cake provided by volunteers are available at the church on Sunday afternoons in the summer. From past experience the cakes are excellent, and very good value for money, which goes towards church maintenance. We should be back in time to enjoy them after the walk.
Anyone considering eating at the Stag & Huntsman first, or possibly the Farm Kitchen just outside Henley, is welcome to post a message under 'Comments' below asking if others want to join them.
Those who aren't FULL MEMBERS OF THE CLUB (filled in a form and paid the annual fee), or members of another IVC, will be asked to make a small contribution to the running of the group (e.g. £2).
Directions:
Take the A4055 out of Henley towards Marlow. After about 2.8 miles turn left at Mill End onto Skirmett Road. After 0.9 miles fork right into the lane into Hambleden (signed to Pheasant's Hill), past the memorial in front of the church, then keep straight ahead past the pub and into the car park behind it on your right. It is pay & display, and will cost £3 for 4 hours.
