Henley Café Sci: Hot Fusion versus Cold Reality
Details
Café Scientifique organises talks, usually given by scientists, followed by questions from the audience in the second half. They are a great opportunity to explore the latest ideas in science and technology, you don't need to be a scientist to enjoy the evening, everyone is welcome to ask a question or make a comment. Join us for tonight's talk:
“Some of you will have attended one of the many talks on the possibility of sustainable fusion power. These normally consist of an outline of deuterium-tritium fusion followed by a ‘we are nearly there’ promotion of the method.
The main problem is not that of creating a sustainable plasma – but what happens next to convert the input energy into electricity for the national grid so making it very costly.
Speaker Ian Adsley
Studied Physics at Manchester and Cambridge Universities
Deputy Manager Analytical Services Laboratory , Harwell Nuclear

***Car Parking has become tricky at Henley Hockey Club. Joy riders have caused Tesco to close barriers to their part of the car park at 9pm.***
***There is a fair amount of parking beside the Gym behind HHC . Turn left towards HHC but then go straight on.
***So please try hard not to park in Tesco as you won’t be able to get out.
***If necessary time will be allocated to move a car during the interval ie before 9pm.
***The process worked well in March and April. ”
