That Design Meetup - September 2019 - "Designing Value Props for Designers"
Details
DESIGNING VALUE PROPS FOR DESIGNERS
Communicating the value of design is something we constantly need to do to get commitment and support, but many of us feel the struggle of getting the message to land with executives, engineers, clients, etc. In this special event, we’re partnering with Design for Healthcare to use design philosophies and practices as a different angle in solving the ongoing messaging challenge, particularly in the space of selling design in healthcare.*
Through small group collaboration, we'll explore the multiple challenges and opportunities it takes to upsell design across audiences and find take-home thoughts and/or solutions on:
-- Who are the major "buyers" of design and their common pain points in understanding design?
-- What have you experienced as the most and least successful ways to communicate the value of design, based on time and context?
-- What do you do when you realize that your message is not being heard the way you intend?
How we'll get there…
-- 6:30-7:00 = Arrive & get settled in
-- 7:00-8:15 = Small group exercise & discussions
-- 8:15-8:30 = Wrap up
*Note: While the case study for this evening is healthcare, experience in it is not required — all senior designers are invited to bring personal experiences and expertise to enrich the discussion and look for solutions to similar problems they face across industries.

That Design Meetup creates a space once a quarter for seasoned designers to meet, advise, and learn with each other. This is a place to share stories, get validation, and ask questions of our fellow Seattle designers with 3+ years of industry experience.
