Expression of Interest: Wild camping in the Lake District
Details
Wild camping means camping in the hills and mountains away from everyone (ideally) and everything. There are no toilets or showers but maybe a lake or stream to wash in/swim. This is open to ALL, especially if you've never been wild camping before.
We'll meet on the Friday and set out to explore an area of the Lake District on the Saturday. Given that it's August I'll be looking to go somewhere off the beaten track. I'll look into this more if there's enough interest.
If the weather's lovely we'll have a beautiful sunset with amazing views.
You'll need to have and bring:
• tent (ideally not a single skin), sleeping mat, sleeping bag and something to act as a pillow (other clothes in a dry bag)
• dehydrated food and a cooker if you have one
• torch or head torch
• spare baselayers and warm clothing
• first aid kit and comfort pouch ie. what you need to feel comfortable, but don't forget...you'll be carrying it!
• waterproofs, hat, gloves
• something to kneel or sit on
I have a spare tent and sleeping mat if anyone wants to borrow them. Cooking facilities could be shared too.
The cost will be the usual RSVP fee plus whatever the camping fees are for the Friday night and car parking.
Always happy to discuss this one, especially if you're new to this!
