Looking for some new social connections on the relatively uneventful Sunday before Memorial Day Monday? Then come and connect with your fellow Millennial and Gen Z peers at the Mitsuwa Japanese Market Food Hall!
Oh, and then there's the snacks, entrees, desserts, drinks, and other interesting East Asian fare! But that's less important than the novel thoughts and ideas, right?! đ
What to Expect
Letâs make it a goal to connect deeply with as many people as possible! I challenge each one of you to learn the names of anyone you speak to and try to remember something interesting about them. I don't want to hear "I'm bad with names."; choose to be better!
Your food and drink choices are up to you. I will do my best to facilitate and make sure everyone is connected and gets to know each other. Our objective above all is connecting meaningfully! We may consider going elsewhere for dinner afterwards depending on interest level.
Agenda
Arrive & Gather (15 min)
Icebreaker - Loosen the Tension! (5 min)
Mini-Group Discussion Questions (30-60 min)
- How are you building social relationships? Is it effective? What has or hasnât worked?
- What are you looking for from community? Is there something you wish we had that we seemingly donât in modern society community-wise?
- Is there really a mental health crisis? Can you relate? If so, what is driving it and how?
- The âAmerican Dreamâ of owning a home is being challenged. How do you think our attitudes toward home-life are changing? More individualist? Multigenerational living? Hostels? Tiny houses? âOwn nothing and be happy?â
- Will AI save us or destroy us?! Or is the answer more complex?
Free-Mingle Organically! (and Fair Trade!)
Where to Find Us
We will settle down at a table in the Food Hall to the West End (right-side facing the main entrance from the parking lot) of the building.
About the Venue
Mitsuwa Marketplace is a nationwide Japanese grocery chain similar to the Korean H-Mart or Taiwanese zTao markets. This store has a food and dining hall serving different Asian cuisines, snacks and drinks. There are also plenty of prepackaged options such as seaweed salad, chicken skewers, sweets and tea, often Japanese-imported, that can be found on the grocery side of the store. See the link below for more detail:
