We will reconvene at Civil Pour Richardson for the first time this year for some quality connection and discussion!

Conversation Theme
Are we at war with 'authenticity'? Or better yet, are we at war for authenticity?!

Sure, conjuring a mask of persona is often beneficial for navigating our complex social, professional and familial interactions. It makes us adaptable and capable in many different contexts.

Yet it seems uncool for most of us to be true and authentic. TV ads and shows comedically present authentic and frank people as being naive or unaware.

Remember the 2010s Millennial trope of being "ironic"? If we dare show our true selves, what if we're attacked or ostracized for it? Even children are discouraged from expressing emotion.

Self-discovery is all about digging deep to understand who we truly are authentically underneath it all, and this takes a lot of introspection and self-awareness. Know thyself!

And as you emerge and express, you may hear a lot of "We want you to be authentic... No, not like that!"

Let’s make it a goal to connect deeply with as many people as possible! I challenge each one of you to learn the names of anyone you speak to and try to remember something interesting about them. I don't want to hear "I'm bad with names."; choose to be better!

Your food and drink choices are up to you. I will do my best to facilitate and make sure everyone is connected and gets to know each other. Our objective above all is connecting meaningfully!

If you're not into coffee, no problem! Civil Pour has quite a food menu as well as a host of other beverages including teas, beer and much more, so feel free to do your own thing.
