What we’re about

Come hike in the mountains and forests with fellow lovers of nature.

We go to the mountains, not to climb or conquer, just to be out there... hiking, grilling, and camping. Friendly conversations around a campfire, sleeping under the stars, waking up to birdsong and a chilly dawn.
We're not affiliated with any group, although some of us might be members of environmental clubs and may have completed wilderness courses. As a reasonably fit hiker you will be responsible for your own safety, equipment, food, etc. of course, and the average trip might cost you $20 to help cover the campsite reservation - if you decide to camp with us.
Those of us who want to camp as well as hike gather at a campground on Friday afternoon, and by sundown we're cooking and chatting around a campfire. By Saturday evening we've also all hiked together, so we're old friends relaxing and eating together in the firelight. We usually break camp after breakfast on Sunday.
Our typical hike is a moderate trail in the San Bernardino or San Jacinto mountains. We usually meet at 10 AM on Saturday at a trail head, then hike out for 3-4 miles before heading back (6-8 miles total) to our cars. Five hours of hiking, with an elevation gain of up to 2,000 feet, means your day pack should hold half a gallon of water.

Please note: We prefer to hike and camp with polite Nature Lovers who are capable of having civil conversations. We reserve the right to exclude people who struggle with politeness and civility.

“The mountains are calling, and I must go.”
-John Muir, Scottish naturalist and mountaineer, 1838-1914
