If you are new to the group please make sure you read ALL OF THE INFO in the "WHAT WE ARE ABOUT" section. Most of your questions should be answered there.

If you have further questions please feel free to email the host of the venue you are interested in.

Our aim is for you to enjoy your venue in comfort and to have you arrive at the end of your chosen venue happy and safe as well as satisfied with your leader as well as your venue.

THE HIKE:
PACE: comfortable pace - please do not go faster than the majority of the group. If you get ahead and do not know the venue you are responsible for yourself. Rule of thumb for safety, wait at all junctions.
DIFFICULTY: easy to moderate depending on fitness level
DISTANCE: approx 17+kms return
ELEVATION GAIN: fairly even ground some elevation but not much.
TIME: 5+ hours depending on pace
BRING: snack/lunch/water, hiking poles, micro spikes, rain gear as required
WEAR: proper clothing for conditions and a change in your pack and/or car in case of rain/sweating and a change of footwear for after your hike.
FOOTWEAR: good hiking boots/shoes/poles
SEASON: All year but weather dependent for most of the park in the winter but hikes starting from the Horse Corral Parking Lot are usually good.
MEET UP: Main Horse Corral Parking Lot - Golden Ears

***Please keep it in mind if you are on a time schedule there is no guarantee of reaching your car on "your" time. Unexpected things can happen.***
INFO:
Start from the Main Horse Corral to Menzies Trail junction. The trail crosses over to the other side of the Parkway and heads north (7-9 km, suggested hiking time one-way 2.5/3 hrs; elevation change minimal). Pace can change the time. We will end up at the Spirea Parking Lot and from there we traverse through the unmarked forest paths to the Lake where we will have our lunch. Many trails lead us to the lake.
The trail is all forest floor and it does follow the road but it is generally quiet unless it is a busy summer day. There is a small water fall for viewing close to where we connect to the trail after crossing the road from the Horse Corral if there is interest.
