Our aim is for you to enjoy your venue in comfort and to have you arrive at the end of your chosen venue happy and safe as well as satisfied with your leader as well as your outing.
MAKE SURE YOUR BIKE IS IN GOOD CONDITION -
TIRES ARE INFLATED BEFORE ARRIVING TO THE STARTING POINT -
MAKE SURE YOUR BRAKES WORK - HAVE A REPAIR KIT AS WELL AS AN EXTRA INNER TUBE.
******Biking will be weather dependent. Sometimes it can be a last minute post so make sure you check your calendar Sunday night and by 8am on Monday morning.
Be aware that all members and guests cycle at their own risk. Once you sign up, we are not liable for any mishaps and we do not have any medical training. Please be responsible for yourself and follow all cycling rules and the leader’s agenda. To help you to be seen and heard on the road, the following equipment is strongly recommended for your bicycle: a bell, flashing front and back lights or reflectors. A mirror is another good option.
THE RIDE:
PACE: easy comfortable pace - please do not go faster than the majority of the group. If you get ahead and do not know the venue you are responsible for yourself. Rule of thumb for safety, wait at all junctions.
Difficulty: Easy if you have biked regularly or moderate if you have only biked a little bit. There are options to turn back.
Distance: 40-55+ KMS....depending on what route you take.
Elevation Gain: minimal except if you chose the extention..a long hill at the end.
Time: depending on pace 4+ hrs....depending on what route you choose.
Bring: water, lunch and snack. We can stop for coffee along the way where you can also purchase your lunch. We will eat at Derby Reach Park
Wear: weather appropriate clothing and shoes, sun glasses/sunscreen as required
Season: fair weather cycling
Meet Up: Poplar Bar Park - Glen Valley Regional Park - parking lot NOT TWO BIT PARK.
INFO:
Nice easy ride from Glen Valley Regional Park (Poplar Bar) along quiet country roads. Weaving in and out here and there until we get to Fort Langley where we will do Brae Island (optional). We will carry on to Derby Reach to have our lunch and relax a bit.
After lunch we will carry on towards 208th, turn down 96th and do some more country roads until we get back to our parking lot. THERE ARE OPTIONS FOR AN EARLIER RETURN.
****There are options for those wishing to return earlier if you prefer not to do a longer version of this ride. You can turn back from Brae Island or Derby Reach. The rest who prefer a longer ride will carry on in the other direction.
There is an additional option towards the end of the ride for an extension or to return to the parking lot as well.
