Counting the Omer 2026: Tarot & the Gates of Light by Mark Horn/Introduction
Details
Tarot & Counting of the Omer — A 49-Day Journey
Each spring an important and beautiful Jewish contemplative tradition known as Counting of the Omer invites participants into forty-nine days of reflection between Pescach (Passover) and Shavuot (Pentecost).
In this special ABQ Tarot Meetup series we explore this journey through tarot using "Tarot and the Gates of Light: A Kabbalistic Path to Liberation" by Mark Alan Horn.
Together we will reflect on the symbolism of the sephirot on the Lurianic Tree of Life (Jewish tradition) through the Tarot Minor Arcana suit cards numbered 4-10 while sharing insights and discoveries in a warm and welcoming discussion circle.
No prior knowledge of Kabbalah is required — just curiosity and a tarot deck.
Special Invitation: Orientation Class: Kabbalistic Tarot for Liberation
Before the Omer Count begins, the Albuquerque Tarot Tribe will gather on March 28th, 2026 for a special orientation session introducing the Kabbalistic framework behind this 49-day tarot journey.
During this first meeting we will present the official recorded teaching:
“Kabbalistic Tarot for Liberation” by Mark Horn.
This class introduces the spiritual structure behind the tarot, including:
• the Lurianic (Jewish) Tree of Life
• Kabbalistic world associations of the tarot suits
• the symbolic pathways explored during the Omer
This orientation prepares us for the weekly Omer discussions that follow.
This presentation of Mark Horn's recorded class is offered free to members of the Albuquerque Tarot Tribe for this special event.

Preparation for this Study
As preparation for this journey, please obtain a copy of:
Tarot and the Gates of Light: A Kabbalistic Path to Liberation.
It is available at most large local and online booksellers and as an ebook through most services, including public libraries.
Please read the introductory chapters before the first discussion session.
These chapters explain:
• the Kabbalistic foundations of the tarot
• the Sephirot of the Tree of Life
• the elemental correspondences of the tarot suits
The Deeper Symbolism of this Practice
This contemplative path invites us to examine and release the internal chains that bind us — mental, emotional, physical, or spiritual.
Through reflection and discussion we work symbolically to:
• throw off self-imposed bondage
• confront our inner Pharaohs
• journey toward our own sacred mountain
• prepare ourselves to receive insight and revelation in our own unique way
