About us
The ABQ Tarot Tribe turned 17 years old in 2026 and has been growing steadily in membership. Inspired by Carrie Paris (www.carrieparis.com) who created the original Santa Fe Tarot Tribe Meetup Group, and birthed here in Albuquerque in 2009 by Margaret Letzkus and Robert Hahn, since 2013 our Tribe has been under the guidance of Cheryl Ryder. Thanks to all of our members, friends, and sponsors for their loyal support.
Each year we look forward to creating new programs as we delve deeper into our studies of the tarot with all of its mystery and wisdom. Please join us for the explorations of this ancient and sacred divination craft for enlightenment. Membership is free; we only ask reasonable donations for attendance at events in order to cover operational costs.
We promise to continue bringing quality presentations to further our collective knowledge of ourselves and the universe of consciousness.
Namaste, Cheryl Ryder, Organizer

### 🌟 Moderator’s Role and Circle Agreements
The Tarot Café is a shared learning space where curiosity, respect, and inclusion guide our conversations.
As Moderator, my role is to:
• Keep our circle balanced and on topic.
• Support every voice in being heard.
• Protect the atmosphere of psychological and spiritual safety that lets discovery happen. These agreements aren’t restrictions on expression — they’re the foundation that allows open, meaningful exchange for everyone.
***
### 🪄 Participation Agreements
1. Shared Purpose
We gather to explore tarot in a respectful, inclusive space that supports both reflection and learning.
Curiosity and consideration are our common language.
2. Balancing Time and Voices
Every voice matters — balance keeps our conversation flowing.
Each participant has space to speak without interruption. Once someone has shared, the Moderator will invite others to contribute so everyone is heard.
The Moderator may gently manage airtime using time cues or “raise hand” mode.
3. Stay on Topic
Keep discussions connected to tarot, symbolism, and meaning-making.
If conversation drifts, the Moderator will kindly guide it back so everyone remains engaged.
4. Respectful Expression
Speak to share, not to persuade or critique — our focus is tarot and its related philosophies and systems.
All respectful paths, identities, and viewpoints are welcome here.
5. Active Listening
Be fully present when others speak.
Silence is part of good conversation; let reflection breathe before responding.
6. Confidentiality
What’s shared in the Café stays in the Café, including chat messages and screenshots.
No retelling or quoting others outside the group without consent.
7. Safety
While discomfort can arise in learning and dialogue, disrespect is never permitted.
If behavior disrupts the safety or flow of the group, the Moderator may mute or remove a participant—always respectfully and without public shaming.
8. Energy Awareness
Balance creates our magic. Take a moment to center before joining.
If you arrive late, enter quietly and wait to be acknowledged.
Extroverts — allow space for reflection.
Introverts — your voice adds depth; share when you’re ready.
9. Sun and Moon
Each Café begins with brief introductions and intention-setting, and ends in gratitude—for the cards, the circle, and the wisdom shared.

### 🕊 Closing Note
Our circle thrives when we honor both freedom of expression and social harmony. Together, we make the Tarot Café a place where insight, laughter, and kindness coexist.

Peace Love Space (formerly NM Dance Academy), 10410 Comanche Rd NE,, Albuquerque, NM, USThe Four Powers of Life: A New Way to Read Tarot
What if every tarot reading could be understood through four simple forces that shape human experience? In this Tarot Tribe gathering, we’ll explore a powerful way of looking at the tarot suits — not just as elements, but as four fundamental power clusters that influence every situation in life.
Together we’ll explore:
🔥 Wands – The Power to Act
What ignites initiative and action?
💧 Cups – The Power to Care
What values and relationships matter most?
⚔️ Swords – The Power to Understand
What clarity and definition is needed?
🌿 Pentacles – The Power to Build
What must be made real, sustained, or managed in the real world?### What you'll take away
- A uniquely fresh perspective on the four tarot suits
- A simple framework that can bring new clarity to tarot readings
- Hands-on practice using a five-card spread
- Insightful discussion with fellow tarot enthusiasts
- A handout containing the spread and key ideas.
Whether you’re new to tarot or have been reading for years, this session will offer a practical way to see how energy, values, understanding, and real-world action underpin the stories revealed in the cards.
Through tarot, together we’ll discover how these four powers interact in our lives.

Tarot & Counting of the Omer - Week 1 of 7/Chesed & the 4's
·OnlineOnlineYou are cordially invited to join us!
Each spring a beautiful Jewish contemplative tradition known as the Counting of the Omer invites participants into forty-nine days of reflection between Pesach (Passover) and Shavuot (Pentecost).
During this time we contemplate the qualities of the Sephirot of the Tree of Life, gradually moving through a spiritual journey of reflection, growth, and preparation for insight. In this series the Albuquerque Tarot Tribe explores this journey through tarot using the book:
Tarot and the Gates of Light: A Kabbalistic Path to Liberation
by Mark Alan Horn. Together we reflect on the symbolism of the Sephirot on the Lurianic Tree of Life (Jewish tradition) through the Tarot Minor Arcana suit cards numbered 4–10, sharing insights and discoveries in a warm and welcoming discussion circle. No prior knowledge of Kabbalah is required — just curiosity and a tarot deck. After you RSVP and before the first day of The Omer Count you will receive a Dropbox link to download the Counting of the Omer workbook - a 50-page printable workbook containing the word lists from Mark's book for you to record your card choices and journaling notes.
# A Unique Opportunity for Tarot Study
A wonderful side benefit of following the Omer journey through tarot is the opportunity to become deeply familiar with the Minor Arcana suit cards numbered 4–10.
By following a single suit throughout the 49 days of the Omer, participants encounter these cards repeatedly in 49 different Sephirotic pairings, revealing new layers of meaning each time the cards appear.
Many participants find that by the end of the Omer journey they have developed a much richer and more intuitive understanding of the Minor Arcana.***
# How Our Weekly Gatherings Work
Each week we focus on one “host” Sephira, represented by the tarot number of the week.
The other Sephirot “visit” that host during the daily contemplations.
This invites us to reflect on questions such as:
• What does the visiting Sephira bring to the host Sephira?
• How does the host Sephira influence or moderate the visitor?
• How does this interaction appear through the lens of our chosen tarot suit?
Participants are invited to share reflections, insights, and experiences from their daily contemplations.***
# This Week’s Focus
Our journey begins with Chesed, the Sephira of loving-kindness, generosity, and expansive grace.
In the tarot this energy appears through the Fours, cards that establish stability, sanctuary, and the first taste of abundance after struggle.
Throughout the week we will reflect on how the qualities of the other Sephirot appear within the field of Chesed, exploring how structure, harmony, endurance, humility, connection, and embodiment interact with the generous flow of loving-kindness.# Preparation for the Study
Participation requires the acquisition of a copy of:

Please read the introductory chapters if you have not already done so.
These chapters explain:
• the Kabbalistic foundations of the tarot
• the Sephirot of the Tree of Life
• the elemental correspondences of the tarot suits
