A Jacaranda Books Takeover! FREE Event
To kick off The Alternative Book Fair’s programme, Jacaranda Books are
bringing together three of their most exciting and experienced authors to discuss the art of romance.
Romance authors Sareeta Domingo, Rasheeda Ashanti Malcolm and Lisa Bent will talk through the journey of debuting in the industry versus now, and take us on a journey to help us to understand where the genre has come from, what development takes and where they see it going.

Sareeta Domingo is the author of The Three of Us, (originally published as The Nearness of You), and creator, editor and contributing writer of romantic fiction anthology Who's Loving You. Her novel If I Don't Have You was shortlisted for the Diverse Book Awards 2021. She has also written numerous erotic short stories and an erotic novella with Pavilion Books, and her books for Young Adults are published under S.A. Domingo, including Love on the Main Stage, shortlisted for the Lancashire Book of the Year 2021. She has contributed to publications including, iNews, gal-dem, Black Ballad, Stylist and Token Magazine, has appeared on BBC Woman's Hour and Sky Arts Book Club, and has taken part in events for Primadonna Festival, Black Girls Book Club and the Royal Society of Literature among others. She lives in South East London.
Rasheeda Ashanti Malcolm is an author, writer, novelist, journalist, radio presenter and speaker, with a background in gender based violence and domestic abuse. Her first novel, Swimming With Fishes was published in 2017 and her second, Love Again, in 2020. She is now working on her third novel, Life Happens, and a non-fiction book aimed at first-time writers and women who want to write but can’t find the motivation or inspiration.
Lisa Bent is the author of Symona’s Still Single, a genre-defying romance novel published in October 2020 as part of Jacaranda's trailblazing #Twentyin2020 initiative, which marked the historic publication of 20 Black British authors in a single year.
In November 2024, she co-authored Bombshell with Alison Hammond, published by Penguin.
Lisa's work has appeared in The Independent, Stylist Magazine, and Porter Magazine. She is currently working on the highly anticipated sequel to Symona’s Still Single.
