Philosophy of Knowledge (epistemology)
Details
The third session of the Analytic Salon will be on knowledge.
The third session of the Analytic Salon is here! This session will be on knowledge, belief, skepticism --- very... quintessential philosophy stuff.
Have you ever wondered if we are in the Matrix? If it's all a dream, or a dream within a dream? Have you ever wondered if we could know things with *absolute* certainty? Or, even, what it is to know things *at all?
If trying to refute the skeptic seems like a lost cause to you --- come to this session of the Analytic Salon. You'll be surprised to hear very robust, airtight arguments against the skeptic. But also: chilling thought experiments that show we have no clue what knowledge is.
After two sessions that exceeded our expectations, we are turning to a core philosophy area: epistemology. As usual, we will have real philosophers on site guiding us through the questions and through some influential theories. We will wonder about what it is to believe something, how we know what we know (meta!), what role faith and intuition have in all of this, and possibly more.
We were struck last time by the intelligence and thoughtfulness of the attendees. We fully expect another smart, vivid discussion. Maybe it'll go 40 mins over time again!

We will have refreshments (wine, cheese and crackers, fruit).
NOTE ON RSVP-ing: RSVP is *required*. Our events fill up within hours and there is a significant waitlist. At the same time we can only accommodate about 25 people. If you are not reasonably confident you will attend, kindly put yourself on the waitlist/maybe-list and let someone else have the spot.
