Hello all!!! Are you tired of reading the latest BookTok-recommended books, only to find that the plots are generic, the relationships toxic, the sex scenes awkward (or also toxic), and the prose just...too much and yet not enough?
Well, same. This is a book club for the antis, the haters, the constant readers yearning for quality.
Together, we'll meet monthly to discuss a controversial BookTok-y book (think Colleen Hoover). Once we get going, we'll also have other meetups just to hang out and get to know each other.
While this group is meant for fun and lively discussion and connection, it should go without saying that there's a line. Criticism of books is fun, but any kind of misogyny, racism, homophobia, or other hateful speech or behavior toward members of the group will not be tolerated and will result in an immediate ban from the group. Save that kind of thing to be torn apart in our bad book discussions!
Please also note that the books we discuss may feature explicit sex scenes, violence and/or abuse, "dark" (again, probably just toxic) relationships and other controversial content. I encourage everyone to always read only what they're comfortable with, and to feel free to skip certain books or discussions if they're not right for you. Again, we will have general non-book-themed events that everyone is welcome to join!
