The Symbolic Imagination: Tarot for Writers, Artists & Creatives
Details
Join us for a special two-hour workshop exploring how tarot can support creative practice across writing, visual art, music, performance, coaching, entrepreneurship, and personal projects of all kinds.
Over the past 10 years, I have developed a unique approach to working with tarot as a tool for creativity, reflection, and artistic development. Drawing on influences from depth psychology, psychosynthesis, hermeticism, and contemplative traditions, this system uses the tarot as a powerful tool for generating ideas, overcoming creative blocks, deepening projects, and accessing new perspectives.
In this introductory workshop, we’ll begin to explore how tarot can be used as a living symbolic language for creativity, idea generation, and artistic insight. It offers a first encounter with the core principles and practices that will eventually unfold into a much deeper and more structured course experience. A full Symbolic Imagination course will be launching in the autumn, expanding this work into a complete framework for creative development, symbolic practice, and sustained engagement with archetypes and imagination in your creative life.
If you feel a pull toward this way of working, this workshop is the entry point into the path. It is designed to orient you to the system, the approach, and the wider creative practice that will continue to develop over the months ahead. And whether you're writing a novel, developing an artwork, building a business, exploring a personal project, or simply seeking greater creative flow, the cards offer an extraordinary symbolic language through which fresh possibilities can emerge.
In this workshop, you'll learn:
- The foundations of my Symbolic Imagination tarot system
- How to use tarot as a creative thinking tool
- A practical framework for generating ideas and solving creative problems
- Ways of using symbolism to deepen artistic work and personal projects
- Techniques for moving through creative blocks and periods of stagnation
- Tarot spreads designed specifically for writers, artists, makers, coaches, and creative professionals
- Methods for developing a sustainable symbolic practice that supports long-term creative growth
Who is this for?
This workshop is open to creatives of all kinds, including:
- Writers
- Artists
- Musicians
- Designers
- Performers
- Coaches
- Therapists
- Entrepreneurs
- Tarot readers
- Curious thinkers and lifelong learners
Do I need tarot experience?
Some familiarity with tarot is recommended.
This is not a beginner's introduction to the tarot deck. We won't be covering the meanings of all 78 cards or starting from absolute basics. However, you don't need to be an experienced reader.
If you've worked with tarot before, own a deck, have experimented with readings, or are generally comfortable engaging with symbolic imagery, you'll be absolutely fine.
The emphasis will be on creative application rather than technical tarot knowledge, so advanced practitioners will also find something rich and valuable
What to bring
- A tarot deck (any deck will do, although a Rider-Waite-Smith inspired deck might be most helpful, as that is what I will be using for examples)
- A notebook or journal
- A current creative project, challenge, or question (optional but encouraged)
