The Art of Seeing New York brings together people who want to create exceptional fine art photographs—images made to be printed, framed, and displayed.
Through photography walks and workshops, we’ll explore New York’s skyline, Central Park, iconic architecture, and street life. We’ll focus on high-resolution photography, thoughtful composition, beautiful light, and the details that give an image lasting impact.
We’ll also explore panoramic and cinematic photography, combining technical quality with artistic vision to capture the scale, atmosphere, and energy of New York.
From planning a photograph and choosing camera settings to editing, preparing files for large prints, selecting materials, and framing, we’ll explore the journey from an idea to finished, ready-to-hang wall art, with museum-quality presentation as our goal.
I began in fashion photography before moving into long-term fine art documentary projects focused on New York’s yellow taxis, skyline, and Central Park. I started this group to share my experience and connect with others who love photography, art, and the city’s history.
All experience levels are welcome. Together, we’ll exchange ideas, develop our individual artistic voices, and create photographs we’re proud to display.
Join us for a three-hour walk focused on creating high-quality Central Park images with artistic intention. We’ll explore composition, camera settings for sharp detail, panoramic perspectives, and cinematic framing—taking time to observe, experiment, and discuss our photographs.
I’ll share how I create high-end panoramic photographs of Central Park—from finding inspiration to preparing the finished image for print.
Inspired by the Hudson River School painters, I look for expressive light, depth, and a sense of atmosphere. We’ll explore how that inspiration shapes my choice of location, season, viewpoint, and composition.
I’ll explain how I plan and photograph a panorama, including camera settings, overlapping frames, and capturing detail. I’ll also discuss my post-production process: stitching images, refining perspective, balancing color and contrast, and preparing a high-resolution file for a large fine art print.
Time: 6:30–9:30 a.m.
Meeting point: In front of the Apple Fifth Avenue glass cube, at Fifth Avenue near 59th Street.
Our planned route includes:
The Mall Walk: Tree-lined perspectives, leading lines, and morning shadows.
Bethesda Terrace & Fountain: Architectural details, thoughtful framing, and storytelling.
Bow Bridge: Reflections, graceful curves, and layered landscapes.
Sheep Meadow: Expansive views and the relationship between the park and skyline, as access allows.
We’ll start early to enjoy a quieter park before it becomes busy. The group will be intentionally small, with limited spaces to allow personal guidance, questions, and plenty of interaction.
Bring your camera, a fully charged battery, space on your memory card, and comfortable walking shoes. All experience levels are welcome.
Let’s slow down, follow the light, and create photographs you’ll be proud to print and display.
For the past five years, I’ve been documenting Central Park through fine art photography, building a collection of high-quality images across all four seasons. The park is especially beautiful in the early morning, when gentle light, quiet paths, and reflections create wonderful opportunities for artistic expression.
Inspired by the Hudson River School painters, my project explores light, atmosphere, and the beauty of the landscape. I look forward to sharing this approach and helping you create your own expressive images of Central Park.
