Join us with Jim Jacoby to discuss the Art & Science of Design

Details

On the heels of four years' research into the principles of master craftsmanship, Jim is writing a book on the subject and sharing early findings in 2016 with digital designers and business leaders. At the core of this research is the emotional intelligence required to understand the rich spectrum spanning art and science. Designers and technologists specialize at either end of this spectrum to pursue excellence in their field. But, too often we lose sight of the basic criteria that helps quantify our own success. Fortunately, we have centuries of insight to leverage. Our task is simply to apply it in a modern and very fast-paced context.

About Jim Jacoby

Jim Jacoby is a lifelong entrepreneur, business advisor, author and keynote speaker. He is the founding partner in the ADMCi, which focuses on applying the principles of master-craftsmanship in a modern world. Starting with the simple question, “What am I built for?” Jim and the ADMCi work with people driven to craft both internal and external experiences for a more rewarding life’s journey. Their work transforms business performance and the people contributing to its success.

Formerly, Jim was the founding partner of the user experience design firm, Manifest Digital in Chicago. Jim led a new era of brand experience and engagement anchored in the principles of user-centered design. He drove his company's strategy for solving sophisticated business problems with innovative experience design solutions. His teams innovated customer experience journeys, platform integration strategies, and content strategies spanning social media, marketing communications, and software platforms.

Jim’s early career focused on professional services, providing documentation and training for the largest privately held consulting company in the Midwest, Whittman-Hart. There, he pioneered experience design integration with back-end systems development, built some of the first interactive design teams, and created user-centered design processes that have become a standard in the industry.
