Kintsugi, Perfectly Imperfect - Art Therapy Workshop
Details
++++++++++++++PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTRATION++++++++++++++
Kintsugi dates back to the 15th century and means “joining with gold” in Japanese. A broken object (ceramic) is glued together with lacquer and then the seams are covered with gold. Wabi Sabi, related to Kintsugi, is the philosophy of embracing our flaws and life’s fragility. The acceptance of imperfection.
During the workshop, we will go through the various processes of Kintsugi – breaking, grinding, joining, gluing, gilding – thereby we will also see our own vulnerability on the path to becoming whole.
What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy is a tool for expression (music, drama, dance, literature, fine arts...etc.), in this case we work with fine arts. This method helps us express our emotions and thoughts more easily. It’s an opportunity to get to know ourselves on a deeper level and connect to others. No prior artistic skills are needed to participate.
Please note, this is NOT an art workshop but an activity to raise self awareness.
Location: Kisvilág, 1074, Budapest, Szövetség utca 11.
Date: Thursday, 23th of October 09:30-13:30
**This is a free event but donations are welcome. To register, please send an e-mail to thearttofreedom@gmail.com**
Important: I do not recommend the group to people with serious neurological disorders or those undergoing psychiatric treatment. The workshop does not qualify as and does not replace psychotherapy but is a great addition to the self discovery journey.
Leading the workshop:
Jennifer Nyerki
Ex-graphic designer, corporate worker by day and Art Therapist in the making
