What we’re about
This is a space for the moms who secretly (or not-so-secretly) think:
“I hate this parenting thing.”
“I love my kid, but I don’t like being a mom.”
“If people knew the thoughts I have, they’d call me a bad mom.”
If you’ve ever felt resentful, checked out, overwhelmed, neglectful, angry, or just deeply unsure you’re “good enough” for your child… this group is for you.
What we’re about
Bad Moms Club – Chicago is a judgment-free, honesty-first space for moms who:
Feel like they’re failing or don’t fit the “good mom” picture
Have intrusive/dark thoughts about motherhood and feel ashamed of them
Are tired of curated mom spaces that jump straight to “gratitude and affirmations”
Want to be seen, heard, and understood before being “fixed”
We vent. We laugh. We say the quiet parts out loud. And we also gently move toward repair, self-compassion, and actually learning how to show up as “mommy” in a way that doesn’t destroy us.
Who this group is for
Moms in the Chicago area (all ages of kids, all family setups)
Moms who feel guilty, resentful, numb, or angry a lot of the time
Moms who are curious about healing and growth, even if they’re not there yet
Moms who can hold space for other people’s honesty without shaming them
Who this group is not for
People looking to mom-bash or kid-bash for sport
Anyone encouraging abuse, neglect, or harm toward children or partners
Folks who can’t handle hearing hard truths without becoming cruel or dismissive
This group is for processing, not for planning harmful behavior.
What to expect
Events will be a mix of:
Small group circles (coffee/tea, check-ins, themed discussions like “I don’t even like my kid right now” or “Mom guilt vs. actual accountability”)
Reflection & skills nights (boundaries, emotional regulation, repair conversations with kids, co-parenting stress, etc.)
Low-pressure social hangs (walks, brunches, “I just need to be around adults who get it”)
You can come as you are. You don’t need to have the right language or the right story. You just need to be honest and respectful.
Important note
This group is peer support, not therapy.
We’ll always encourage members to seek professional mental health support when needed.
If a member shares that a child is currently unsafe, we will gently move toward helping them get appropriate support and resources.
You’re not the only “bad mom.”
You’re just honest. Come sit with people who get it.
