Lansdown Slopes Walk

The route takes in many attractions including:
Primrose Hill Community Wood with the Memory Tree and my favourite statue; Beckford's Tower; Bath Racecourse; Prospect Stile; Kelston Round Hill, using the Cotswold Way and public footpaths / rights of way.
The c.20 mile panoramic views west, south and east take in the Severn bridges, the Mendips, Westbury White Horse and many parts of Bath, Bristol and Wales.

Distance:
About 7 miles.
There is an uphill start then mostly flat; we stop a few times to admire the attractions and scenic views.

• Dogs are more than welcome and can be free to play for much of the walk BUT need to be under control in certain places.

Start:
The Old Crown, Crown Hill, Weston Village, Bath, BA1 4BP

Route:
Up Weston Park West, through a small wood which borders the Cotswold Way into Purlewent Village Green.
Follow footpaths through Primrose Hill Community Woods, with historical attractions, up to Lansdown slopes.
Across Lansdown slopes under Beckford’s Tower onto Lansdown football fields south.
Across Lansdown Lane into field before Bath Racecourse.
Footpath to the south of racecourse to Prospect Stile.
Continue on footpath to Kelston Round Hill.
Continue on Cotswold Way to High Street, Weston Village.

Finish:

• Please wear walking boots as the ground is uneven and may be muddy in places.

Cancellation / postponement / changes:
If the weather forecast is rain the walk will be cancelled before 2pm. CHECK the event page before you set off; you should also receive an email with details.

GUESTS:
Members should not bring guests / plus ones on walk events.
The reason for this is that the meetup.com disclaimer (agreed by everyone who joins Meetup), and possibly our BSG event disclaimer, may not be applicable to guests.

Everyone is invited to take pictures and post them to the event page. If anyone is concerned about inadvertently being included in a photo then this is not the event for you.
