Lawless: freewriting & art journaling
Details
This is a workshop for writers who love experimentation. It mixes freewriting with mixed media art to produce an art journal, which encourages rule-breaking, unbridled expression, and multi-sensory explorations of emotion.
The session starts with freewriting, with a preliminary plunder of your emotional state and current concerns, and then prompted writing using the often-forgotten senses – smell, taste, touch. Then we incorporate pattern, layers, collage, colours, and objects - and more text.
You don’t have to be an artist – after all you can write in circles or invisible ink, paint over your words, punch the page with wild colours, or burn the paper. Stick the pages together if you want total privacy!
It’s a new form of daily journal, and can help with writing blocks, new ideas, lateral thinking, and self-discovery. It’s a repository of your state of mind over time and will help you tune into your varying moods. Mainly, however, it's a lot of fun and, unlike writing, you can occasionally chat while you're doing it!
