FALL: Stories of falling | Live Storytelling Night (Berlin)
“Even the knowledge of my own fallibility cannot keep me from making mistakes. Only when I fall do I get up again.”
Vincent van Gogh

Everyone has one. The first time you fell in love, or the last time you fell out of it. The fall that hurt your body, or only your pride. The plan that fell apart. The city, the stranger or the dream you fell for when you least expected it.

This November, THE BEAR brings you an evening of true personal stories about falling. Not always graceful. Sometimes you hit the ground hard, and sometimes the fall turns out to be the start of something.

Our storytellers will be drawn at random from our legendary top hat. The only rule: the story has to be true, has to be yours, and has to be new to the stage.

Come as you are. Bring the story of your fall. Or simply sit back and listen.

🎤 What this event is

An evening of true, personal storytelling, told live on stage. No scripts. No acting. No fiction. Just real people sharing the moment they fell:

  • falling in love, or falling apart
  • the stumble in front of everyone
  • the fall from grace: yours, or someone you looked up to
  • letting go and being caught, or not
  • the autumn that changed everything

Some stories will be funny. Some raw. All of them human.
Your host for the night is Izzy Ahrbeck, with music from Rory C. Malone.

At the end of the evening, the audience votes for their Favorite Story, and the winner earns an invite to The Eve of the Champs, our annual storytellers’ showcase on June 24, 2027.

💭 Why come?
Because storytelling isn't just entertainment, it's connection. You'll leave feeling:

  • more connected to others
  • reminded of what you've made it through
  • maybe even ready to tell your own story

🐻 How the evening works

  • Open Stage: We randomly select storytellers' names from our legendary top hat

👉 Want to tell a story?
Put your name in the hat when you arrive. First time? Even better. We're known for being a welcoming space for new storytellers.

📍 Venue: Theatre Pool, Boxhagener Straße 18, 3. Hinterhof, 10245 Berlin
📅 Date: Thursday, November 19th
🕖 Time: 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm
🗣 Language: English (welcoming to all levels and backgrounds)
🎟 Tickets
Entry is by donation €15–18, pay what feels right. Of every €15, around €3.50 goes to VAT and payment fees, so THE BEAR keeps about €11.50. That covers the venue and tech; everyone else is a volunteer. If you can choose €18, it truly helps.

✍️ Not ready for the stage? Write your story on one of the paper slips we hand out. Our host reads a few aloud, anonymously, during the show.

This month’s question: Tell us about a time you fell. For someone, for something, or flat on your face.

✨ Our Mission
THE BEAR has grown into one of Berlin's most beloved & longest running live storytelling events: a place where strangers become a community through the simple act of listening.
Supported by: THE BEAR e.V., [Moving-Speaker.com](https://www.moving-speaker.com/), Female Speaking Berlin, and Experience Berlin Youtube Channel.
