The books of Kings - Bible study of the history of Israel
Details
The books of 1 and 2 Kings were originally a single book in the Hebrew scroll. It records the tragic consequences of idolatry and rebellion against God, who patiently prolongs judgement on Israel and Judah.
He sends prophets to turn the hearts of the people towards their God, but no revival is long lived. The kingdom of Israel and Judah ultimately fall to the world powers, Assyria and Babylon where the people are carried into exile.
