What we’re about

Astrology is an excellent practical and useful tool for understanding ourselves, our motivations, and the universe around us. It is much more than the sun sign columns found in newspapers and magazines. Whether you are just starting to learn or are a professional astrologer, this is where everyone speaks the same language. Everyone is invited to ask questions on any level, share observations, and exchange ideas. Everyone is encouraged to participate, and if you are interested in presenting a lecture or discussion topic, please contact the organizers. We are open to considering astrology-based ideas of all kinds.

    Event Description:
Join us for a presentation on the astrology of 2026 with Danny Larkin, followed by a festive holiday party in the lecture hall of the New York Theosophical Society. Drinks, holiday desserts, and snacks will be served after the lecture.

As we look ahead to 2026 and try to deepen into the meaning of several outer planet transits, we will draw inspiration from the work on Lynn Koiner on planets in the early degrees of signs. Pluto, Neptune and Uranus will traverse the early degrees of their new signs. We will amplify the myth of Pandora's Box as a way to explore the psychological and spiritual meaning of these early degree activations.

Pluto in Aquarius – We will ponder the symbolism of the early degrees as Pluto traverses through the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th degree of Aquarius before shifting into reverse. As many astrologers are connecting this shift with the AI Boom, what does this astrology indicate about upcoming technological shifts? We will also draw upon the insights of Rosanne Finn to explore the meaning of Pluto moving out of the bounds of the sun throughout 2026.

Neptune in Aries – Neptune will re-ingress into Aries on January 27, 2026, and remain in Aries until 2039. As we analyze Neptune’s journey through the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th degrees of Aries, we will also fold in the nature of the early degrees, as we contemplate Neptune’s first movements in Aries since 1875. Is a wider war coming? Will current conflicts resolve or get worse? Drawing upon some of Liz Greene’s more advanced concepts around Neptune, we will explore how aggression and fighting might take on a dangerously redemptive and disassociate aura in years to come.

Uranus in Gemini – Uranus will linger in Taurus for the first four months of 2026, and then re-ingress into Gemini on April 27th, 2026. Uranus will then move through and activate the early degrees of Gemini – the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th degrees. How will communication become disrupted and revolutionized? How might we adjust the ways we speak and write as Uranus ingresses?

The Minor Grand Trine - A unique aspect pattern will constellate between the outer planets for most of the year. The minor grand trine outer will come into orb between March 23rd and September 20th, 2026, as well as between October 14th and December 25th. We will draw upon observations from both Bill Tierney as well as the Hubers.

Chiron into Taurus – On June 19th, 2026, Chiron will ingress into Taurus, perhaps to clean up the mess that Uranus left in Taurus. Although Chiron is more emphasized in the UK as a component of the cosmic weather report than the US, we will factor in this shift from Chiron in Aries into Chiron in Taurus, drawing upon the work of Liz Greene and Melanie Reinhart.

Saturn in Aries – Saturn will re-ingress into its detriment in Aries on February 15th. What are the best strategies to cope with the detriment of this planet of discipline and structure? How do we work with a world where so many of the underlying structures appear to be unraveling?

Jupiter in Cancer and Leo – Jupiter starts the year strong with his exaltation in Cancer, but will then shift into Leo, the sign of royalty, kings, leaders and the sun on July 1st, 2026 How might we shift from the lunar advantages of Jupiter in Cancer, to the paradigm of managing up in July?

Drawing upon the work of Demetra George, we do deeper into the territory of ancient astrology to spotlight the Mars and Venus cycles as morning and evening stars.

Mars as a Morning Star – After a close conjunction with the Sun, Mars will be lying hidden under the beams until mid-March. How might it be to our advantage to keep our powder dry while Mars is under the beams? Once Mars rises on March 13, 2026, it will be visible as a morning star for the rest of 2026. How might we work with the morning star energy of Mars beyond cliches like the early bird gets the worm?

Venus as Evening Star – After a close conjunction with the Sun, Venus will be lying hidden under the beams until February 17, 2026, when she rises as evening star. How might we work with Venus softening into evening star energy?

Mercury Retrogrades in Water – How do you really know what you are feeling? Mercury will shake up the water signs this year, retrograding through Pisces from February 26th to March 20, 2026, retrograding through Cancer from June 29th to July 23, 2026, and retrograding through Scorpio October 24th through November 13th, 2026.

The Nodal Shift - In 2026, the nodes will change signs marking a major shift in how we experience the eclipses, as well as the nodal activations. On July 26th, 2026, the North Node retrogrades into Aquarius, and the South Node retrogrades into Leo. What is the best way to prepare for a year with this kind of nodal split? The eclipses mark turning points that we can vigilantly and wisely work towards.

Eclipses in Virgo / Pisces - These two upcoming eclipses will mark the ending of recent series of eclipses across the Virgo / Pisces axis. A total lunar eclipse on March 3, 2026 at 12 Virgo will turn the moon orange and precipitate an opportunity for catharsis and release around physical habits. The partial lunar eclipse on August 28th 2026 will tinge the moon’s color and offer another inflection point a more emotional, imaginative and symbolic level.

Eclipses in Leo / Aquarius – These two upcoming eclipses will mark the beginning of a series of eclipses across the Leo / Aquarius axis. There will be an annular solar eclipse on February 17th 2026 at 28 Aquarius. The moon will partially but not entirely cover the sun, which may suggest some of kind of unexpected disruption that clarifies our work ahead with Aquarius. On August 12th, 2026, there will be a total solar eclipse at 20 Leo, which may indicate a period of darkness that seeds a new chapter with Leo – both individually and collectively.
