What we’re about
The Birmingham History Network is a West Midlands social group aiming to spread interest and knowledge about history whilst also increasing interaction between academic historians and the general public by convening social gatherings, museum trips, book readings, informal symposia and a whole host of other activities.

This is a local branch of The History Network. The History Network is based on the following values:
• History belongs to everyone and should be accessible to everyone. Therefore, the History Network is a strictly non-profit organisation. It is acceptable to gather donations but these must be spent on administrative costs and event organisation.
• Given that history belongs to everyone, discrimination on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, age, class, race, nationality, religion, and disability is absolutely unacceptable. The History Network strives to make its events accessible to all and to ensure that its events respect individual differences.
• History is the scientific study of the past and is based on the principle of objectivity. Therefore, the History Network will not organise events that seek to promote particular ideological, religious, or political beliefs and agendas.
