Welcome to the very first gathering of The Black Box Karaoke Club — a new community night at The Black Box in Kansas City for singers, shower vocalists, theater kids 21+, music lovers, and anyone who just wants a place to belong.
This is a soft launch event, which means we’re building the vibe together from the ground up. Expect a warm, casual, slightly chaotic (in a good way) night where the goal is connection first, performance second.
📍 LOCATION + HOW TO FIND US
We are located at The Black Box in the West Bottoms. When you arrive, follow signage or staff guidance to the karaoke/social space. If you RSVP through Meetup, your name will be on the list at the door. Just mention “Karaoke Club.”
🕗 AGENDA (approximate flow)
7:00 PM – Doors open + check-in
7:00–7:30 PM – Social mixer / meet people / first drink orders
7:30 PM – Icebreaker moment + “first song"
7:30 - 9 PM – Open karaoke rotation (sing solo, duet, or just vibe) Staying longer is fine too! The Black Box is open till midnight!

✨ WHAT TO EXPECT

• A welcoming, no-judgment space (seriously—this is the rule)
• A mix of experienced performers and first-time singers
• A social, conversational room between songs
• Encouragement to be bold, weird, dramatic, or quiet as you need
• People arriving solo and leaving with new friends

This is not a performance competition. It’s a community night.
🎒 WHAT TO BRING

• Your phone (for song queue + connecting with people)
• A valid ID (if applicable for entry/venue rules)
• A willingness to participate—or just enjoy the energy
• Optional: your go-to karaoke song idea already picked out
• Optional: a friend, but not required

💡 GOOD TO KNOW

• No singing experience required
• Duets and group songs are highly encouraged
• You can sign up for karaoke even if you arrive late
• Hanging out and not singing is completely welcome
