Book Club - Blindsight
Details
We will discuss the book Maintenance of Everything by Stewart Brand. We will read up to chapter 2.4.
This book explores the crucial, often overlooked, role of maintenance in civilization, using examples from sailboats and vehicles to military equipment and the planet itself. The book argues that maintenance is a radical act of responsibility, a vital counterpoint to the focus on newness, and examines the mindset and skills required for upkeep, drawing on historical examples like the Israeli military's rapid repair of tanks in the Yom Kippur War.
We meet every other Tuesday at 6:00 pm. There is a core of 5-6 people who attend regularly. This event at the tables just outside the Darling Wine Bar in the Greyline facility
