Presentation Abstract: Richard Crane, Chief Architect and Technology Officer of MILL5, will discuss a soon-to-be-released PaaS offering [from MILL5] that will allow financial analysts, scientists, and developers to create REST-based services in the cloud to quickly expose models and applications. Currently models and applications can be uploaded using Java and MATLAB with future support for R, .NET, and Python.
We will examine various aspects of the architecture using AWS and how technologies such as ELB, SQS, S3, Lambda, consul, docker, and PostgreSQL fit within the architecture. We will discuss challenges such as service routing, discovery, and deployment.
About the Presenter: Rich is the Co-Founder, Chief Architect and Technology Officer at MILL5. Prior to starting MILL5, he worked at BlueMetal as their Chief Architect and at Microsoft as an Application Architect for 10 years. He authored "Essential Windows Communication Foundation" from Addison Wesley and has written articles for various publications including SD Times. He is an AWS Certified Solutions Architect and Developer. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Drexel University.
