Presentation: “Serverless architectures on AWS Lambda: The OpsGenie Experience"

Abstract: OpsGenie leverages Serverless Architectures at AWS Lambda for the last 3 years. In this presentation, we’ll explain the reasoning behind leveraging AWS Lambda and show some real life examples. Of course, nothing just works. So, we’ll also mention some of the challenges and explain how we overcome them.

Presenter: Serhat Can is the Technical Evangelist for OpsGenie. He contributed to different parts of OpsGenie as a software engineer and now spreads the word by coding, writing and talking about DevOps. Presentation: Sophisticated and Targeted AWS Attacks: Case Example (by the Threat Stack Security Team)

Abstract: In 2017 the Threat Stack Security Team began observing strong evidence that attackers are increasing their AWS sophistication, beginning to leverage characteristics of how AWS is managed to move laterally within environments. While the generic, mass botnet activity is still largely the same as what you see in the media - exposed S3 buckets and other common misconfigurations - more sophisticated and targeted attacks are leveraging AWS to their benefit.

The strongest example of this is a breach that happened in 2017 where one of our customers was targeted for one of their customer’s data. While all of the data in their SaaS platform was likely of interest, based on the team’s investigation only one of their customer’s data was targeted.

In this presentation we look at the higher sophistication attack, from 2017 apart, changing enough of the details about the attack to keep the analysis meaningful and our customer’s identity private.
