Internet of Things workshop
Hosted by The Boston Arduino Users Group
Details
How about a workshop on using your arduino to build your own internet of things? You can turn any simple sensor or actuator into a fully networked smart device. Whether you want to make a remote controlled crock-pot, rfid door lock, or full scale home automation system, MQTT is a convenient way to to do machine-to-machine M2M communication. I could also show people how to monitor/control their devices over the web (apache/php/node.js/io.socket/etc)
W
e could setup a MQTT broker (Mine is running on my Rpi)
People could ma
ke sensors:
- pushbuttons
- rfid readers
- photodiodes
- etc and Actuators
- lights
- relays
- servo-motors
- crock pots
- etc
And we could get them all talking to each other over the MQTT network.
(You just need an Arduino + ethernet shield to participate)
Is this something people would be interested in?
