Surface mount soldering workshop

Surface mount soldering workshop

Details

This was discussed in the meetup last night... Everybody will put a 16 to 32 pin QFN/MLF (https://en.wikipedia.o... (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quad_Flat_No_leads_package)) chip onto a breakout board, bake it, add solderless breadboard headers, and hook it up to your Arduino. These are the hardest, smallest surface mount chips (with the pins on the edge). Most likely we'll use PCA9555 chips (https://focus.ti.com/d... (https://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/pca9555.html)) -- its an i2c 16-bit IO expander (get more digital in/outs on your Arduino!!) -- which you can take home... Also you can make a suggestion or bring your own chip if you want. I haven't contacted Sprout yet, but it looks like they want $5 each to use their space and the materials cost is probably another $5. I'm not sure how to use this meetup site. Right now I am trying to gauge interest.
