Talk #1 - Beyond Checkbox Security: Technical Excellence Meets Business Reality by Jeremiah Salamon
Description
Building effective security programs requires a strong technical foundation while maintaining clear focus on risk reduction and compliance requirements. We'll talk about figuring out what really needs protecting, getting past checkbox security approaches, and speaking in terms that business folks understand. The key theme is that while knowing your business gives you direction, strong technical skills are what make things happen - we'll explore building solid teams, picking the right technologies for real problems, and measuring what actually matters. You'll walk away with practical approaches for aligning security with business needs and creating programs that protect what's important while meeting regulatory obligations and reducing organizational risk.
Speaker Bio - Jeremiah Salamon is the Information Security Director at one of the nation’s premier law firms. He has over a decade of experience in Security Operations, Security Architecture and Engineering, and Governance, Risk & Compliance working in small businesses and large enterprise environments with regulated data. Regardless of the size or complexities of the organization, Jeremiah has successfully influenced positive security culture and helped grow security teams.
Talk#2 - If I wanted to get there, I wouldn't have started from here by Chuck McAuley

This talk will be fast and loose about the lessons learnt over the last 4 years at redacted. If you are planning to disrupt the world, there are some basic steps you can start now that your future self will thank you for.
