Important Notices

Starting in May 2026 we will start using Meetup's QR code check-in process to make sure only registered users are allowed at our events. We will also start tracking registered user no-shows, and after 3 incidents you will be removed from the group. Being on the wait-list is not an eligibility to attend the event, it only gives you the ability to move to registered list if someone cancels their registration more than 48hrs prior to the event.
Repeat cancellations with less than 48 hrs of notice may count towards your no-show count if it happens repeatedly.

During registration please provide a full name that matches the one on your ID. If the registered name doesn't match your ID, meetup organizers or the building security reserve the right to decline entry.

All meetup venues we currently use require us to provide a list of names (First & Last) to their door security so they can check people in at the time of the event. We are also required to bring "a picture ID" that matches the name we provide at the time of registration. Please be mindful of this requirement and provide the necessary information to ensure a smooth check in process at the door. Thank you for your cooperation - the management! There will be no entry without a confirmed RSVP. No pets or tele-presence bots allowed.

Talk 1 - DNS and Domain Investigations in Geopolitical Context by Ian Campbell

Description - Vendor-agnostic technical and narrative presentation and of recent investigations in which DNS and/or domain data rose to geopolitical or national security importance, seen from the threat research trenches.

Speaker Bio - DomainTools Security Operations / DomainTools Investigations Threat Researcher with no semblance of work/life balance.

Talk 2 - Let's Blow Up the Alerts and Start Over by Craig Chamberlain

Description - Why do we ship products that create alert fatigue? Three years ago, a team member asked that question. As is often the case when the best questions are asked, there was no clear answer from the room containing something like a millennium of assembled experience in security product R&D. It left a lasting impression because we realized we had stopped asking that question. To the youngest team member, unencumbered by the weight of precedent, it was obvious. To us, it had become partly invisible, as we answered a stream of requests for short-term relief and quick fixes. What would it look like if we started over? Hooking up a fire-hose of junk alerts, with FP rates in the high nineties, and lighting money on fire, is not the answer. This talk will be a show and tell of the PROTOSTAR project which we created from scratch. And yes, there is AI.
Speaker Bio - Craig has seen things you people wouldn't believe - attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion, C-beams glittering in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. He has presented at 42 conferences including DEF CON and RSAC. Craig has traveled back through time to warn us about a possible future where the dashboards no longer render and there is an odor of something burning in the air.
