About us
If you think our country is falling apart because liberals and conservatives don't know how to talk to each other anymore, you’re right, and this meetup is for you. Here, we attempt to foster conversation across the liberal/conservative DMZ, focusing as much on casual experiences as on deeper conversations about the nature of politics and our political system.
Group leadership includes members from across the political spectrum, and all ideologies are welcome -- leftist to libertarian, tea party to teamster.
NOTE: Some people have asked about chipping in for costs. While we absolutely do not require that, we do appreciate your eagerness to help us provide this meetup and will accept contributions of any size. Please go here for our PayPal pool:

IN PERSON meet up
860 N. Lakeshore Dr., 860 N Lakeshore Dr., Chicago, IL, USJoin us for an engaging discussion across the political spectrum. There have been sweeping changes in a short period. Come discuss your greatest hopes and worries so that we can set milestones to revisit.
As always, the goal of our meetups is not to convince people of one viewpoint or another -- it's to get us to learn to understand each other better and to add detail and nuance to our views and opinions about "the other side." It means finding mutual respect and also being comfortable with a little discord.
Through these meetups, you'll find new sources of information, and you'll learn to listen better and to flesh out (or sometimes throw out) the assumptions you carry. Most of all, we hope you'll come away with the sense that "the other side" is made up of people just like you, and you'll learn that most people are not simply "bigots" or "snowflakes".
NOTE: Ages 16 and above, please. Young children can be disruptive.
VENUE RSVP: This month, we'll meet at the party room of 860 N Lake Shore Dr. at the NW corner of Chestnut and Inner Lake Shore. We need to provide a list to the doorman to let you in, so please RSVP if you and your guests plan to attend.
TIPS: Some people have asked about chipping in for costs. While we do not require that, we appreciate your eagerness to help us provide this meetup and will accept contributions of any size. Here is our Tipjar:

In The News VIRTUAL: Casual Discussions Across the Aisle
·OnlineOnlineSign on on the third Friday of every month for a casual discussion on current events with people from across the political spectrum. Liberal, conservative, independent, libertarian, anarchist, and all other perspectives are welcome and encouraged to join.
As always, the goal of our meetups is not to convince people of one viewpoint or another -- it's to get us to learn to understand each other better and to add detail and nuance to our views and opinions about "the other side". That means sharing beers and pizza, wine and hummus, water and chips together; it means speaking in a space where you can't assume everyone agrees with what you're saying; it means finding mutual respect, and also being comfortable with a little discord.
Through these meetups, you'll find new sources of information (both good and bad), you'll learn where people get all their "crazy ideas", you'll learn to listen better and to flesh out (or sometimes throw out) the assumptions you carry with you. Most of all, we hope you'll come away with the sense that "the other side" is made up of people just like you, and you'll learn that most people are not simply "racists" or "snowflakes".
This is a recurring virtual event. Each meetup will be a brief period of virtual "mingling" followed by a circle discussion about something that's going on in the world today.
Hope to see you all there!
